Powerlifting
In powerlifting, athletes aim to lift more weight than opponents. There is much more to Special Olympics powerlifting than deadlifting, squats, and bench presses. Powerlifting is effort, persistence, and loyalty. Training, determination, and attitude are necessary for a successful powerlifting sequence. The barbell tests physical strength and highlights an athlete's inner wish of improvement.
Athletes are classified by weight and divided by ability. All powerlifting events are open to both men and women. The bench press, squat, and dead lift are single event competitions. After a well-trained athlete has competed in more than one event, he or she can move on to combination events.
combination total score = bench press lift + dead lifts
