Coaches
Thank you for your interest in becoming a coach. As a coach, you will take a lead role to help Special Olympics Washington fulfill its mission, and in doing so you will make a major contribution to the lives of people with intellectual disabilities; a contribution that will enrich you as much as it does the athletes.
Becoming a coach is easy! You don't need prior experience – we provide the necessary training and resources. All you need is a compassionate nature, a desire to help others and a lot of enthusiasm. Special Olympics Washington volunteer coaches come from all walks of life, including former Olympians, college students, young professionals and a host of family members.
Being a Special Olympics coach can be one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime – for both you and the athletes you mentor. Special Olympics coaches often find that the personal rewards received are equal to or even outweigh the benefits they offer the athletes.
